Society of St. Vincent De Paul

Charity is certainly greater than any rule. Moreover, all rules must lead to charity.

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul at SMU Catholic

The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is the Catholic Church’s oldest and longest standing direct service organization – started by college students in the 19th century. The students of SMU Catholic strive to carry on their tradition of service by making home visits to families in need in the surrounding community and providing them with direct assistance.  Students get to know families and individuals, discern their immediate needs and how best to meet them and work to find ways to help them permanently get on their feet.  The aim is to provide immediate service while working towards sustainable social action.  It is an opportunity for direct, meaningful and ongoing service, answering Jesus’ call to love our neighbor in a very tangible way.
