Sacraments

Sacraments are “powers that comes forth” from the Body of Christ, which is ever-living and life-giving. They are actions of the Holy Spirit at work in his Body, the Church. They are ‘the masterworks of God’ in the new and everlasting covenant

As Catholic Christians, “the whole liturgical life of the Church revolves around the Eucharistic sacrifice and the sacraments.”  Though we reside at a non-Catholic private institution, you’ll find a vibrant sacramental life on campus.  Mass is celebrated during the week and twice on Sunday.  Reconciliation is also available weekly and by appointment.  For those interested in becoming Catholic or being received fully in the chuch, the sacraments of Baptism and Confirmation are available through our RCIA program.  For questions about Anointing of the Sick and vocations to the single, married and religious life, please contact Fr. Tony Lackland. Follow the links below for more information on the Sacramental life on campus at SMU.

There are seven: Baptism, Confirmation, the Eucharist, Penance, the Anointing of the Sick, Holy Orders and Matrimony. The seven sacraments touch all the stages and all the important moments of Christian life: they give birth and increase, healing and mission to the Christian’s life of faith.
